Fellow Footers,

The dates are set for Paul McDonald from Ron Scarpa Watersports to host a clinic on Geist. I picked a time that the lake will be empty and the kids are back in school: September, 2,3,4.
The cost is $175.

Paul Macdonald

Paul Macdonald is ranked among the top barefooters in the world, a leading Canadian footer and a Canadian National Barefoot Champion who has been a very valuable addition to TEAM SCARPA. Paul is a talented instructor, a fantastic footer and has been training and working with World Champion, Ron Scarpa, since 1999. Paul’s enthusiasm, personality and accomplish-ments have earned him high respect amongst the barefoot community.
Paul is currently a writer for the barefoot sections of many magazines including Waterski Magazine, the Edge, Wakeboard and Waterski (England), Waterski Canada and Wisconsin Waterski. Paul spends his summers conducting traveling clinics, and although his deepest desire to be the best barefooter in the world is extremely powerful, his greatest passion is sharing his knowledge of the sport with students from around the world. Paul has worked hard during the past 8 years to develop a teaching style, much like Ron's, that mixes technical instruction with fun to provide skiers with a one of a kind learning experience. His specialty is kids, so bring them along and introduce them to barefooting the right way.

This clinic is open to only 5 Footers per day. Lunch and a T-shirt is included. The clinic runs from about 8am-4 or 5pm.

15 people is all the clinic can hold. 5 footers per day!

Here are the dates. Add your name to list and then send me your check for $175 and the completed medical and liability release forms. Hit “reply to all” if you add your name so people can keep track of what days are still available.

Marc and I went to a private lake yesterday called Silver Lake Farms.
This place is beautiful. It's located just outside of LaPorte Indiana in a small town called Rolling Prairie. http://www.silverlakefarms.net/

The lake is nestled nicely in a small valley surrounded by trees. Wind chop is almost minimal even with the 5-10MPH wind we had that day. The lake is PERFECT for practicing Figure 8's.

We did two runs each and then goofed off and did a few playful runs. It is almost too short for a 3 event tourney but a Figure 8 contest would be no problem. There's a beautiful little beach area, playground and lots of grassy hills for peeps/families and kids to hang out.

I'll post a couple pictures of the lake as soon as I get them off my camera. Thor had talked to us about the lake, gave us all the history and even mentioned they may eventually dredge out a little in order to make it a little longer so that hosting a 3 event would be no problem.

I'd like to thank Thor of http://www.nostiks.com for inviting us up to practice and just hang out. It was a great time!

Pending World Record - Keith St. Onge

Keith set a new "pending" world record at the Barefoot World Championships this past Sept 9 - 17, 2007. Well, here we are and it is December 13th...and still no word on if he set a new world record or not?? What is going on?

Chuck Gleason of barefootcentral.com had a chance to talk to Keith about the apparent "hold-up" with the judging and as to why Keith has not been declared a new record holder or not...well, here is the interview from BFC that Chuck Gleason had with KSO..see for yourself.

KSO pending record interview

KSO - 2006 World Barefoot Competition 10850pt "pending" trick run

I personally would like to know this. If they dock Keith a thousand points, then where does that put him with the other footers. Dave Small tricked real close to Keith..does Keith lose the title if the judges say his trick run did not count for 10850? Then if that is the case, do the judges need to look at every barefoot run thereafter and assess the "exact" points scored by checking video?? If so, then why bother having judges in the boat. The bottom line here is there needs to be a decision made by the overall "barefoot council", or whoever, that the judges in the boats are the definitive factor. No technicality BS as to the fact that he turned too fast or his pinky toe touched the water...that is petty nit-picking and the whole barefoot judging system needs a serious work-over!
